About Us

Old meets new, unmistakably Thai

Ekkamai Thai Restaurant takes its name from Sukhumvit Soi 63 in Bangkok -- a neighborhood next to trendy Thonglor where old meets new, diverse in both food and culture.

We opened in 2010 with one goal: bring authentic Thai food to the West LA area. That wasn't simple. Sourcing real ingredients was a challenge, and so was changing what people expected Thai food to taste like. A lot of Thai food on the westside at the time leaned on ketchup-based pad thai sauce, too much sugar and salt, MSG, and recipes that had drifted far from tradition. It took time, but our customers noticed the difference, and we're grateful for that.

Thai food keeps evolving, and so does our menu -- new dishes, old techniques, still unmistakably Thai. That's the whole idea behind our name.

We're not chasing trends. We're not on Instagram trying to go viral. We have one location, and we intend to keep it that way, so we can stay focused on quality and consistency. If we ever expand, it'll be right here on the westside, where we started. Our goal has always been simple: make good Thai food and sell it at a fair price, as a solid everyday option for everyone -- without the hype.
